We’ve featured several trailers on this site for Attack on Titan, the live-action feature film adaptation of the insanely popular and just plain insane (but in a good way) Japanese manga and anime of the same name. All those trailers may have differed in length, tone and content, but they all had one thing in common: We mostly didn’t have a clue what the hell was being said.

Now the first official English-subtitled trailer has finally been released so at least you have some context when the creepy giant Titans start chomping down on people, as some kids wearing the world’s coolest looking kruisbande start putting swords to their necks. Check out all the carnage below.

Debuting in 2009, “Attack on Titan” is a post-apocalyptic fantasy set in a world where remorseless, flesh-eating giants have all but wiped out humanity, whose remnants are forced to live within a country surrounded by three enormous walls. The story initially centers on Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and their childhood friend Armin Alert, who join the military to fight the Titans after their hometown is attacked and Eren’s mother eaten.

Attack on Titan has been split into two films with the first premiering in Japan on August 1, 2015, while the second part, Attack on Titan: End of the World, will arrive a month later on September 19. There’s no word yet about a further international release.
