Is this the new poster for The Wolverine

If there’s anything that greases the wheels of the movie making machine, it’s rumour. It seems not a day goes by without some wild, crazy claim being made about a popular movie. Hell, just the other day I read that Stan Lee is going to be doing a cameo in The Dark Knight Rises. See what I mean? Absurd.

But sometimes though, these rumours just make so much sense, that you can’t help but sit up and listen. Case in point: that this awesome piece of artwork is supposedly the first poster for The Wolverine.

The source is supposedly a leaked Instagram image, the original link of which has since been removed, but luckily Screenrant spotted it before it got taken down. The photo is supposed to be of a poster hanging in the offices of Wolverine director James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma). It certainly is a striking image and ties in with the film’s plot, which will be a retelling of the classic 1980’s Chris Claremont and Frank Miller comic book story arc set in Japan. I particularly love the tagline “Rising Soon” as it relates to Japan’s other monniker “Nihon” which translates as “Land of the Rising Sun”.

Screenrant has reached out to Twentieth Century Fox for verification on this poster, but thus far there’s been no details.
