Heart of the sea

Put away those English Lit books, kids, because this time the classic novel of Moby Dick won’t bore you to tears (but it will still make you question eating sushi again). But for once, this is not some lame adaptation of the classic Herman Melville novel, but rather a slightly different, but epic looking movie starring none other than the god of thunder, Thor, I mean Chris Hemsworth.

Academy Award Winning director Ron Howard (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind) is helming In the Heart of the Sea, a retelling of the true story that Melville actually based his novel on, only with a crap load more CGI. Hemsworth plays Owen Chase, first mate of the Essex Nantucket, a ship that sets out on an expedition in 1819 and faces the myth that is Moby Dick. Told as a narration by an older Owen Chase, the movie looks to include mutiny, family, being stranded on an island and a huge-ass sperm whale that apparently doesn’t like people. It looks like it’s going to be a visual treat with a lot of watery deaths.

In the Heart of the Sea also stars Matthew Joy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Ben Whishaw, and Benjamin Walker as Captain Pollard, and is set for release on March 13, 2015.
