These days, whatever movie role Nicolas Cage takes on, you know it’s going to at least be interesting. Maybe not always good, but at least interesting and he certainly is not afraid to take on some unusual and eclectic roles. I’m not sure if it’s because Hollywood just doesn’t want him in the big movies anymore and he is left in desperation chasing after these unusual roles, or if he is genuinely trying to not be famous anymore – either way, it’s at least always exciting to see what he is up to next.
And that next movie in his pipeline is The Trust, which will see him team up opposite Elijah Wood, who is also making a penchant for weird and unusual roles of late. And as you can see from the trailer below – they are likely to continue channeling that eclectic energy into this movie too – and they both look great in it.
A dramatic comedy about Waters and Stone, two nobody police officers who work in the evidence room of the Las Vegas Police Department. When Stone discovers an unusually high bail receipt in connection to a drug bust, the two friends set in motion a plan to find the source of the money.
The film does look like it will have an interesting and twisting plot and has a slick and authentic feel to it, so promises to potentially be a lot of fun and something with perhaps a little more mainstream potential than what the two have encountered recently.
The Trust is directed by music video directors Alex and Benjamin Brewer and will be released on DirectTV in the US on April 14th, before hitting theaters on May 13th of this year. The film also stars Jerry Lewis, Kevin Weisman, Steven Williams and Sky Ferreira.
