It's official, Russell Crowe is going to be Noah

Russell Crowe gathering up animals, building a massive ark and sailing the seas in a zoo that will most likely smell horribly of animal faeces while the world drowns? Does that float your boat?

Well it certainly does for director Darren Aronofsky, as he has just managed to lock in Russell Crowe to take the lead for his upcoming film, in what could be the very first extinction level event that humanity maybe faced.

Sources over at Deadline mention that Aronofsky and Crowe have managed to sort out a date with which to shoot that fits their schedules appropriately, as Aronofsky even dropped out of filming The Wolverine in order to make his bible epic.

”Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family’s journey,” Aronofsky said to Deadline during the pre-production for the film.

The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith. It’s my hope that I can present a window into Noah’s passion and perseverance for the silver screen.

Noah might have some serious competition when it finally hits screens however, as famed director Steven Spielberg is also planning on making a gritty adaptation of the Exodus saga of Moses for the big screen as well.

Russell Crowe on a boat? Someone get T-Pain in this film already!

My imagination keeps bringing up an image of Crowe at the front of the Ark, his family assembled behind him, the wind lashing at them and the mad water throwing the boat to and fro and Crowe, bellowing madly above the storm,” ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!!!!!”

Personally, I’ve got the South Park image of him in front of an ark. Making movies, making songs, fightin’ round the world! Noah!
