Christopher Nolan films tend to have a signature look, ones filled with smooth shots that can easily dip into drama, action or a quick laugh. Well maybe not humour, but you get the idea.
That’s thanks in part to his regular cinematographer Wally Pfister, who has helped contribute to the unique style of Nolan films. But for his next gig behind the camera, he won’t just be framing the shot, he’ll be calling it as well as he prepares to make his feature film debut.
Pfister has a script, but it happens to be under tight wraps right now, although THR has described his first feature as being a cross between Inception and 2001: A Space Odyssey, about a man who inadvertently creates a menacing computer program that sucks him into the digital world.
That sounds more like the bastard child of The Matrix and Tron actually. Rad.
Johnny Depp is currently in negotiations to star in the film, and if he accepts, he could pocket a cool $20 million paycheck and an additional 15% of the movie gross.
Pfister also has his eyes on some other big name actors, such as Noomi Rapace, Tobey Maguire and James McAvoy, with Christoph Waltz considering a small role as well.
Sounds pretty ambitious so far, but with Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas handling the production duties, this could be one to watch when shooting kicks off next year.
