We all know the story: Boy meets girl. Boy “friends” girl on Facebook. Boy uses girl’s Facebook profile to morph himself into her dream guy, which manages to get him in her good graces – and possibly also pants – but then feels guilty about fooling her and now needs to find some way to stop the charade and just be himself without hurting her.
Yes, it’s very familiar territory that’s being explored by stars Justin Long and Rachel Evan Wood in the new rom-com A Case of You, but what may just make this unoriginality worthwhile is a mustachioed Peter Dinklage playing a sassy character named Tzard…or Gerard… or Zod… or something like that.
A young writer (Justin Long) woos a cute and quirky barista (Evan Rachel Wood) by creating an embellished online profile. When she falls for his alter ego, he must keep up the act or lose his dream girl. Directed by TFF alumna Kat Coiro and featuring a cast of hilarious cameo performers, including Peter Dinklage, Brendan Fraser, Sam Rockwell, Vince Vaughn and Sienna Miller, “A Case of You” is a winning romantic comedy for the social media age.
Although they can’t really be seen in the trailer, A Case of You does boast quite a decent supporting cast in Sam Rockwell, Vince Vaughn, Brendan Fraser and Busy Phillips, so maybe there’s a bit more this besides just the usual rom-com cliches and Peter Dinklage being awesome.
A Case of You will be checking in on Facebook on November 6, 2013.
