If you’re looking for a great animated film, you can’t go wrong with one of the DC animated flicks. They’re essentially the kind of live-action films that studios wish that they could make with real actors and special effects, and Warner Bros has been on a roll with their latest releases.
After pushing the restart key on their characters with Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, the next film from that animated stable is going back to the beginning to see just how Batman met Superman. And Wonder Woman. And the Flash. And Everyone else.
The world is under attack by alien species led by Darkseid. Batman must gather a group of superheroes and form the Justice League to defend Earth.
As far as stories go, this particular Justice League tale isn’t your Dark Knight Returns or Flashpoint Paradox. It’s more in line with previous animated films such as Justice League: Doom and Crisis on Two Earths. In other words, big action, bigger perils and bigger heroes judging by the steroid-infused animation style above. I’m kind of curious to see why Aquaman has been replaced with Captain Marvel/Shazam in this adaptation, but I’m going to have to wait until 2014 for some answers.
Justice League: War stars the voices of Jason O’Mara, Christopher Gorham, Alan Tudyk, Michelle Monaghan, Shemar Moore and Sean Astin, with Jay Oliva directing.
