Marv (Mickey Rourke) is a man on a mission in the upcoming Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. A short clip has been released showing him making an entrance and not taking no for an answer, not that he asked a question.

Marv and his story arc in the original Sin City (2005 – 9 years ago already?) was easily my favourite part of the movie SPOILER INCOMING so I’m glad to see him back on the big screen THERE’S A SPOILER ON THE LOOSE in spite of him being (seemingly) SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER  executed via electric chair in the end END SPOILER.

What I’m not sure about are those CGI effects though. While the stylised art direction gels with the graphic novels really well and does look good on screen, I would’ve preferred a bit more subtlety with the blood – of which we’re sure to see bucket loads. What do you think?

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, written by Frank Miller and co-directed by Miller & Robert Rodriguez, and starring  a very impressive ensemble cast including Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and far too many others is due for release on 22 August.
