NYCC: Meet the man, the myth, the legend in the first trailer for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2

Yeah, I’m thinking John Wick is back! Keanu Reeves’ bespoke-suited hitman blew our minds – and also blew away the brains of a huge number of bad guys – when he first popped up on-screen in director’s David Leitch and Chad Stahelski’s breakout 2014 action hit. Made for a just a “cheap” $20 million and featuring an extremely simply premise – some dumb bad guys rob and kill the dog of an ex-hitman, who then proceeds to erase their entire organization from the face of the Earth – the movie, went on to become an instant action classic. This was mainly due to Leitch and Stahelski’s genius flair for action choreography which immediately launched the two co-directors up the list of rising Hollywood talents.

And now they’re back with another John Wick adventure, this time sending Reeves – and a new dog apparently – overseas to shoot some people in the face for who knows what reason. And I honestly, I really don’t care about the justification of the action if it looks as fantastic as it does in this new trailer which debuted at New York Comic Con over the weekend.

Yep, that’s right! Neo and Morpheus just had their first onscreen reunion since The Matrix! Reeves may not be able to stop bullets like his old hacker-saviour used to, but he sure as hell can shoot them. I wonder if Lawrence Fishburne – whose character is named The Bowler King and was put in the movie specifically because of his past movie relationship with Reeves – will be able to do the same!

Besides for Fishburne, the cast for John Wick: Chapter 2 also includes franchise newcomers Common and Ruby Rose, while Ian McShane reprises his role from the first film. The film is scheduled for release on February 10, 2017.
