Midweek Mouth-Off: Get it on with Comic-Con!

50 second read

In just one day, the doors will open on what has become the Mecca of the comic book geek world. And since we love in a topsy turvy world where geeks rule entertainment media, it has also become one of the biggest events on the movie calendar. I am of course speaking of San Diego’s Comic-Con International, which will be running from this Thursday to Sunday. While all the major studios releasing any genre films will be in attendance, we already know that a few blockbuster heavy hitters – namely Star Wars: Episode VII and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – will be nowhere to be seen.

So today, we want to hear from you as to what other big announcements or reveals you are hoping to see at SDCC ’14? What are you most excited to hear more about? Maybe still holding out hope for that Elongated Man movie?

Ah, Comicon, the place with barely any comics 🙂 The only thing I vaguely care about is what Kevin Smith might talk about this year.

If there is one aspect of the massive rise of comic book/genre movies that I actually am saddened by, it’s this. It’s not that there are no comics there, there’s crap loads of the stuff. It’s still the biggest event for fans to meet comic creators. The problem is just how much it gets downplayed and overshadowed by everything else.

I remember a few years ago there was quite a stink kicked up because people were struggling to get into the Artist Alley section, as the area was overcrowded with droves of people camping out in the halls for the Twilight: Breaking Dawn panel that was going to happen the next day.

I cannot recall where I read or heard this, but the first person to market a movie at ComiCon now apologizes for doing so.
