This sort of thing must bug the living crap out of Sony. Their PSP wasn’t able to keep up with the technically sub-par DS series so they went back to the drawing board and came up with the technically impressive PSP Go in retaliation.
The PSP Go has since failed miserably and it’s been Nintendo’s turn to crank out a new handheld. Instead of improving on what they have or being innovative they decided to simply super size the DSi and release it in a bigger, bulkier form.
While people scoffed Nintendo just sat their smugly with that annoying wait and see attitude and guess what? They were right again.
Amazon is now limiting the number of pre-orders that you can place for a Nintendo DSi XL to one per household due to overwhelming demand… apparently the world really did need a bigger, uglier, bulkier Nintendo DS.

Everything Nintendo touches turns to Gold. Doesn’t matter how crap it is. I’d like to think that most of the nintendo community just doesn’t know any better.
How awesome would it be to play Mario Galaxy or Smash Bro’s on a hand held? Yet Nintendo stubbornly sticks to Nintendo 64 era tech for their hand held, just in a different flavor every year.
Its time for a NEW hand held NINTENDO!!!!!!!

Rumour has it we will be able have 3D in the palm of our hands with the Nintendo 3DS well after E3.
