TF Combiner Wars (1)

When it comes to fictional wars, it doesn’t get bigger than my ongoing feud with those f***ing ostriches across the road from, long-necked bastards. What does come a close second however, is the original war for Cybertron. It’s a conflict that drove the entire Transformers franchise, a war that raged on for millennia in that universe, claiming scores of Decepticon and Autobot sparks in the process.

Like all great battles however, it had to end eventually. So that a new struggle could take its place. That’s the setup for Combiner Wars, the official animated series coming from Machinima and Hasbro in August. Before that arrives however, the battleground needs to be set up for the Combiner Wars, via some motion comic preludes. Here’s the first one, featuring eternal rivals Optimus Prime and Megatron:

There’ll be three more of these superb prequels, which reveals the state of Cybertron and its forces prior to the Combiner Wars. Here’s a list of them that are rolling out. Descriptions via Nerdist:

  • Victorion, a Combiner born from the magic of the ‘Enigma of Combination’, describes her anger with this new state of affairs and proclaims her intention to save the Transformers galaxy from the chaos created in the aftermath of disbanding the Autobots and Decepticons.
  • Starscream, no longer the villain we once knew him as, is now a member of a great ‘Council’ along with The Mistress of Flame from the planet Caminus and Rodimus Prime. The burden of responsibility is heavy on the three due to the destruction and loss of life from the ongoing Combiner Wars.
  • Windblade, once an official ‘City Speaker’ to the gigantic ‘Titans’ is tired of the bureaucratic non-action of the Council, who seem to sit idly while her people and her cities on Caminus perish. She decides that the only way to end the Combiner Wars is to take matters into her own vengeful hands.

I’m a sucka for Optimus Prime catchphrases, so I’m already sold on this. And now I’m going to go cry massive tears over the fact that we never got a third Transformers game from High Moon studios. ONE SHALL STAND, ONE SHALL FALL!

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia's M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!
