Owen Wilson, an actor that is hard to imagine outside of any comedy roles. He’s been pigeon-holed in such genre films for a while now, even though he has shown some credible talent towards drama and more action-packed films.
His last straight action film was Behind Enemy Lines, and it looks like the man is getting ready to dip his toes back into the world of explosions and high speed getaways, in The Coup.
To be directed by John Dowdle, who also wrote the script, Coup finds Wilson as a family man who moves his family to Southeast Asia, only to find them stuck in the middle of a violent uprising, leaving Wilson with no other choice than to safely evacuate his wife and kids.
Filming is scheduled to begin in October, now that financing has been securely ka-chinged. Although, after so many years playing a clown, it’s going to be kind of difficult to imagine Wilson Neesoning everyone in the face, Taken-style.
