With Iron Man 3 cleaning up at the theatre, there has been a lot of talk regarding what Robert Downey Jr. would be tackling next and according to a bit of news from over at Aintitcool, he’s teaming up with Iron Man 1 & 2 director and frequent collaborator Jon Favreau for a film called Chef.
Mr. Downey has been very vocal about his wishes to act in more character-driven roles and to teak a break from the gigantic blockbusters, and Chef sounds to be the perfect match. Scripted by Jon Favreau, who seems set to helm the director’s chair as well, Chef is “about a man who loses his job as a chef and starts a food truck to reclaim his artistic promise.” Now, I don’t know about you guys, but this seems like exactly the kind of fare that Robert Downey Jr. excels at, and exactly the type of off-beat film that kick-started his comeback.
Robert Downey Jr. is arguably the biggest star in Hollywood right now, and the last thing we want is for Mr. Downey is take the Halle Berry train to Catwoman station. I shudder at the thought! He seems to be doing everything right, and is definitely approaching acting with a lot more respect than other actors that could easily sit back and let their fame do all the talking. An actor that … likes to act? Nobody tell Michael Bay about this! He’d be sure to have a few explosions to restore balance to the universe.
