Ryan Reynolds wants Hugh Jackman to play in a DEADPOOL and WOLVERINE movie

2 min read

Deadpool was a monumental success. And there is no doubt that a large part of its success was just how well Ryan Reynolds was suited to play the character. Do you know what other popular Marvel hero is suitably well cast – Wolverine. Hugh Jackman has become the embodiment of the wise-cracking, mean spirited X-Men hero just as much as Reynolds is for Deadpool. And do you know what would be even better – both of them in a movie together.

Which is exactly what Ryan Reynolds is thinking as he revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly:

I want Deapdool and Wolverine in a movie together. What we’re gonna have to do is convince Hugh. If anything, I’m going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line.

Sign me up for this petition, wherever it is. With Jackman finally deciding to put down the claws after the upcoming Logan film, it is unlikely that he will be lured back into playing the character yet another time, but I guess if the script and opportunity is right, they may be able to sway the actor from his superhero retirement. One thing that could convince any actor is obviously money, but with Deadpool 2 set to retain it’s smaller budget of the first film, that is likely not going to happen for that movie. And besides they still need to close out their casting for Cable and Domino before considering any further additions to the cast.

However, a future Deadpool vs Wolverine match-up that would be worth seeing. Well, a proper one at least. The poor attempt at one in X-Men Origins: Wolverine needs to be permanently erased from most fans minds and the best way to do that, it is to do it again, but properly this time. With both Reynolds and Jackman at their best. And considering this is a plot that has already featured in the comics, they have something to already draw upon that will keep faithful fans of both characters happy. It’s a win for everyone. We just need to get Jackman behind it somehow. Given that Deadpool 2 is likely to only come out in 2018, there is at least time for Jackman to get a break from his bladed alter-ego and hopefully feel rejuvenated to play him in the future. We can only hope for now.

Would you also like to see this pair meet up in a movie? What other super-heroes would you like to see teaming up in a film together?

I watched a Wolverine vs Hulk animation some time ago, and Deadpool was there! It was brilliant and (just like in the comics) they couldn’t stand each other. This would be the best idea ever. Also, Flash vs Quicksilver?
