In what can best be described as a mysterious love child of both Steven Spielberg & Stephen King, comes this new series from Netflix. Combining the best of playful innocent fun and creepy suspense, Stranger Things will certainly appeal to both sets of fans. And the recently released second trailer for the show has that 80s feel to it and is filled with the same magic of those visionaries.
The new series takes place in a small town in 1980s America where something bad has happened. A kid has gone missing and a mysterious girl is found at the same time as supernatural occurrences are beginning to spring up. The adults (led by Winona Ryder, David Harbour and Matthew Modine) are all baffled by it and it’s up to a group of kids to seemingly solve everything.
The trailer obviously keeps everything a secret, but with kids riding bicycles in the woods and what looks like alien artifacts, I could not help but think of E.T when I watched it.
It certainly looks appealing and something to look out for. It’s great to see Netflix producing so many original high quality shows these days (like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black) and this one looks like it is going to be another potential winner. The quality of TV series today is improving al lthe time and this show looks just as gripping as what you would expect from Hollywood film.
The series is created, written and directed by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer and will feature 8 1 hour episodes in its first season. The series will premiere on Netflix on July 15 2016.
