Don’t worry, if I was reading that title without having watched the trailer, I would be very confused as well. Let me fill you in on the joke – the trailer isn’t really for Pineapple Express 2.
For those of you who unfamiliar with This Is The End, let’s start off with the synopsis from Comingsoon:
Opening in theaters on June 12, the comedy also stars Jay Baruchel and Jonah Hill. The film follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Once they discover that they are experiencing the Apocalypse, they must come to terms with why they were left behind. Eventually they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.
The entire Pineapple Express gang playing fictional versions of themselves during the end of the world? Shut up and take my money! Whenever these actors get together, be it for a film or a series, magic happens. Your Highness, starring James Franco and Danny McBride, has to be one of my favourite comedies of the last few years and I can’t wait to see what the gang brings us next.
Even funnier is the trailer they posted yesterday as an April Fool’s joke, as I mentioned earlier, What promises to be a promo for a Pineapple Express sequel turns out to be one for This Is The End, as they conveniently have the same cast. This film has jumped onto my must-watch list…but with the amount of recreational drug use portrayed in the trailer, I have a suspicion they might be on the police’s most wanted list as well.
