Zootopia-4-1940x1119

You know I love my animated/CGI movies, you only have to read my reviews of films like How to Train Your Dragon to see that. I also love movies that use awesome CGI to tell more adult stories, like Rise of the Planet of the Apes, so I am in two minds about Disney’s upcoming Zootopia, which looks like an adult buddy-cop film but with furry animals…

Firstly it looks gorgeous, but then again this is Disney, of course it will. One thing they do is ‘pretty’ on a scale not many other studios can and they have more money then Trump to get that right. However, Zootopia does look to have rather adult humour that I am not sure kids will ‘get’. I found a similar situation in the rather excellent and very adult-centric Inside Out which went on to become Pixar’s highest grossing movies, so what do I know?!

This time round Disney is going full Anthropomorphic and creating a police force with animals ranging from a new-recruit bunny (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) to a quick-witted fox (voiced by Jason Bateman). Others include the ever awesome Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, head of the Zootopian Police Department, Shakira as Gazelle (which I seems fitting as I think she sounds like one) and Octavia Spencer as Mrs. Otterson. We also have veteran actor J.K. Simmons as Mayor Leodore Lionhearted so the caliber of voice actors is pretty high. Let’s have a watch and see what you think.

I think that is pretty damn funny! But I am not sure that younger kids would get it, or am I just being old and cynical, quite possibly. Zootopia is Directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore and is expected to bust a cap in a cinema 4 March, 2016.
