Jason Bateman has always been known as a funny guy, but it’s probably not since we first met him back in the 1980’s as a bad boy teen in Silver Spoons that we’ve seen him playing anything other than just the nice guy next door, just trying to do the right thing. For his feature film directorial debut, Bad Words, Bateman finally gets to do and say mean things (to children, no less!) and judging from this hilarious new trailer, he should have started being an ass to people a long time ago.
“a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents, and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, as he ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame. As a reporter (Kathryn Hahn of We’re the Millers) attempts to discover his true motivation, Guy finds himself forging an unlikely alliance with a competitor: awkward 10-year-old Chaitanya (Rohan Chand of Homeland), who is completely unfazed by Guy’s take-no-prisoners approach to life.
Bad Words stars Jason Bateman, Rohan Chand, Kathryn Hahn, Allison Janney, Phillip Baker Hall and Rachael Harris, and will be insulting kids in cinemas on March 28, 2014.
