It seems like it took Bridesmaids – and the fact that the movie made more money than South African government tender when your name was Montezuma – for Hollywood to realize that yes, girls can indeed be funny while using rude words and performing crude acts. Now the R Rated female comedy genre is lighting farts and blowing up.
And the next in line is Parks and Recreation star Aubrey Plaza’s To Do List
Starring Aubrey Plaza (“Safety Not Guaranteed”), “The To Do List” follows the story of Brandy Klark (Plaza), a Type-A, overachiever who comes up with a “to-do list” featuring all the risqué extra-curricular activities she missed out on in high school and wants to complete before college. Rachel Bilson (“Hart of Dixie”), Bill Hader (“Men In Black 3”), Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”), Scott Porter (“The Good Wife”), Connie Britton (“American Horror Story”), Clark Gregg (“The Avengers”), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (“Superbad”), Donald Glover (“Community”), Johnny Simmons (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), Sarah Steele (“Please Give”) and Alia Shawkat (“The Oranges”) co-star in the film.
While the concept is very Straight-to-DVD, I am getting quite a feeling of a lot more heart in this production than I initially thought I would. Maybe it’s because contrary to what Ms Plaza and our headline might tell you, this is indeed an all-star cast of some of the funniest people on TV right now, and their presence is just elevating this concept beyond the mediocrity that the blurb aspires to.
