James Franco has been a busy man lately. A ton of films, producing, writing and acting in most of them must mean that he has very little time on his hands. And if the buzz surrounding his latest movie Child of God is any indication, Franco could be lined up for even more work in the future directing feature films.

A dispossessed, violent man who’s life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Successively deprived of parents and homes and with few other ties, Ballard descends literally and figuratively to the level of a cave dweller as he falls deeper into crime and degradation.

Scott Haze is the man behind the madness of Lester Ballard, with critics giving his performance as the lunatic who goes full mental into sin the solid thumbs-up. Child of God certainly doesn’t look like your usual drama, and seeing as how it’s based on a Cormac McCarthy book, it’s a hard and brutal tale that pulls no punches. There’s no word yet on whether this film has been picked up, but seeing as it film season over in the indie lands, expect plenty of announcements soon.

  1. As long as I don’t have to see his smug face in front of the camera.

James Franco just annoys me on-screen for some reason.
