With global box office revenue already over $350 million on a budget of $125 million and releasing locally on Friday, a sequel to the TMNT reboot (which we reviewed here) was pretty much guaranteed; and has now been confirmed for 3 June 2016. But where will it take us? Well, newly revealed concept art may shed some light on the matter.
One of the rumours swirling before the release of the movie was some kind of alien origin for the Turtles, which this was briefly referenced in the movie. Initial drafts of the script had a decidedly more sci-fi bent than the final product, as this concept art for the alien Turtles foe Krang demonstrate. The armoured suit is a nice modernization and fits the more “realistic” design of the Turtles themselves.
We’ve also got some pretty good-looking high-res concept art for Shredder’s mutated henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady, and given the events of the first movie I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make an appearance in the sequel.
A decided update to the characters shown in the header image that looks pretty good to me. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is out this Friday, are you planning to see it?

Gotta say, I really dig that Robo-Krang. Looks badass.
