Top List Thursdays – Top 5 Movie Musical Moments

I have something rather embarrassing to admit: I really love when films, not necessarily musicals, take a moment to break into song and to really have fun with it.

I’ve said it before and I say it again, don’t judge me! Here are a few of my favourites, so get ready to pretend like you’re working while really, you’re tapping your feet like a mad person…

 5. The Breakfast Club – “We are not alone”

One of my favourite scenes from the Breakfast Club finds the gang a little bit high on the green stuff, and in the mood for a bit of dancing. Does anyone else find Molly Ringwald dancing strangely appealing?

4. Desperado – “El Mariachi”

From the ultra-cool film Desperado, Antonio Banderas shows off that when he isn’t playing the guitar, he’s equally capable at using musical instruments to kick some bad guy ass. Yes folks, and the film gets even more exciting from there on in…

3. Empire Records – “Sugar High”

One of my all-time most feel good films, the employees at Empire Records have just had a very, very long day and they realise that all the answers they were looking for were right there…in the music. Duuuuudeeee. Just to mention, Renee Zellweger has a pretty cool voice. Is it just me?  Coyote Shivers instantly becomes the king of one hit wonders.

 2. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – “Twist”

In this classic scene, Ferris teaches us that not only do they not make films as amazing as they used to, but that Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of the most rewatchable movies of all time. Matthew Broderick at his finest, ladies and gentleman. If you haven’t seen it, prepare to be amazed. Get up and dance along, if you must. Everyone will understand. The fun starts around the 2:00 minute mark.

 1. Almost Famous – “Tiny Dancer”

I’m a sucker for Cameron Crowe films, especially Almost Famous which is loosely based on his life as a very young reporter for the Rolling Stone magazine. Besides all that, it might just be one of my favourite films of all time, but this scene in particular has me grinning like an idiot and feeling heart warmed, every single time. Who would a thought a song about Tony Danza could be so great? I’m a sentimental bastard. The secret’s out!

That is the end of my list for today folks, but I’m sure you can think of loads more…so what are you waiting for? C’mon, man! Share your favourites and entertain us!

Gotta have some Marty McFly and Johnny B Goode up in here:

And for something a bit more recent, the brilliant Man or Muppet:

I had this song in my head for weeks after watching The Muppets.

Can I add this scene: My Little Buttercup from The Three Amigos.

It’s utterly hilarious and I cry with laughter every time I watch it

Damn, It has been far too long since I watched The Three Amigos. This needs to be remedied post-haste!
