After the massive surprise success (both commercially and critically) of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, nobody is going to want to take their hands off these damn dirty apes. One of the reasons what that film’s quality caught so many unawares was due to the trailers for the film making it look like flung celluloid monkey poo. Universal are not making that mistake again with the film’s highly anticipated sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, as the trailers we’ve seen thus far have all left us drooling at the proverbial mouths.

And this slobbering new trailer is no different, giving us more of that cracking cast led by Jason Clark and Gary Oldman, a look into how both the human and apes societies have evolved in the 5 years since the events of the first film, and also some more spine-tingling Caesar moments.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes also stars Andy Serkis, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer, and will be released on July 11, 2014.
