We always knew that Deadpool 2 would receive a lot of attention after the success of the first film earlier this year. So when 20th Century Fox starts to look for actors to fulfill big roles in the film, it’s no surprise that there is a lot of people that get thrown into the mix. It’s obvious Deadpool is going to steal the show anyway, but I guess being second fiddle to him is enough to get noticed. And the paycheck helps too.
We’ve heard reports and discussions around who will be playing some of the other big roles in the film, like Cable. News around that has died down, so I can only assume that they’ve found the right man for the role. However, there is still more casting that needs to get done – this time for the role of Domino.
So who is Domino you ask and why should you care? Domino is a mercenary and a mutant, with powers that include the ability to initiate random telekinetic acts that turn probability in her favor. Additionally, and perhaps quite pertinent to the story, she has a close connection to the mutant Cable, with her becoming a partner, confidante, and lover of the mutant in the comics. So with Cable making an appearance, it only makes sense to bring Domino into the mix.
And Collider is reporting that as many as 10 actresses have been lined up to potentially play the sprightly and spunky mutant. That number is already quite big, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets even bigger as the producers do their best to find the right person for the role.
So far, the list includes Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane), Sienna Miller (American Sniper), Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond), Stephanie Sigman (Spectre), Sylvia Hoeks (Overspel), Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire), Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black), Eve Hewson (The Knick), and Kelly Rohrbach (Baywatch).
That is quite a list and indeed a big mix between established actresses and up and comers. And to aid in trying to see who might be the best visual fit for the role, I have included some images of the actress below.
Personally, I think Mary Elizabeth Winstead might be the best visual match for the role, but not sure if she possess the right spunk to take it on. I can see Sienna Miller or Sofia Boutella also fitting into the character quite well.
Deadpool 2 does not have a release date as of yet, but filming is due to get underway in early 2017. I like that director Tim Miller is being afforded the opportunity to take his time on this one and hopefully finding all the right actors to make the sequel even better. Though with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, they likely don’t need to deviate too much from the formula to still make the sequel a success. Though I doubt Domino will just stay in the background without making an impact in the film.
So who would you choose to play the role of Domino?
