RAW April 4 (15)

The first RAW after Wrestlemania is usually a show where rematches are held and championships don’t usually change hands. Not so tonight, as the April 4 episode of RAW in Dallas, Texas was one hell of a show thanks to a certain McMahon being in charge of it for the night. Here’s what went down on RAW:

Opening segment

Vince McMahon is in the ring, gloating over how his son Shane McMahon was demolished in his Wrestlemania match against the Undertaker. The older McMahon promises a RAW that the crowd will never forget, but just before he leaves Shane interrupts. Shane is there to be a good sportsman, but Vince is having none of it, declaring that nobody upstages McMahon senior. And to prove his point, Vince is going to show the audience how nonsensical it would be to let Shane run RAW.

By giving him control of the show for that night. Well alright then.

The New Day defeats King Barrett and Sheamus

RAW April 4 (14)

Fresh off their Wrestlemania win, the League of Nations find themselves in the revenge-crosshairs of the New Day. The team makes quick work of King Barrett and Sheamus, with Big E tagging in Kofi Kingston for a double team Big Ending on Barrett for the pinfall win. The rest of the League isn’t happy with this loss, as they decide to jump Barrett and toss him out of the ring.

RAW April 4 (13)

The Wyatt Family then decides to interrupt, clearing the ring of the League and hitting Sheamus with Sister Abigail to end the first big match of the night.

Sasha Banks defeats Summer Rae

A missed Codebreaker  from Sasha leads to a quick roll-up from Summer, but Sasha reverses the pin and hits the Banks Statement for the win.

Apollo Crews defeats Tyler Breeze

After some action between the two performers, Crews ends the match with a gorilla press slam, standing moonsault and a spin-out powerbomb to seal the deal on a win.

Roman Reigns segment

RAW April 4 (12)

The new WWE World Heavyweight champion is in the ring, and the crowd is properly livid while the announce team try and sugarcoat the hostile reception. Expect those Boo-urns to be edited out in the reruns. Reigns takes note of the few people who are cheering him, by saying that “I’m not a bad guy, I’m not a good guy, I’m the guy.”

RAW April 4 (11)

So what’s next for Reigns? An open challenge for his championship, which naturally draws in the likes of Chris Jericho, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Everybody starts brawling, suicide dives go into overdrive and Shane McMahon books the four superstars into a number one contenders match that night in a Fatal Fourway setup.

Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler ends in a double count out

A back and forth match between the two, where momentum quickly shifted thanks to facebusters, Fameassers and superkicks. Eventually, the two superstars would take their brawl outside of the ring, leading to a double count-out.

The Miz defeats Zack Ryder

RAW April 4 (10)

After being interrupted by the Miz, the new Intercontinental champ is in action. A hurricanrana off the top rope sets the stage early on from Zack Ryder, as he follows up a reversed vertical suplex and a neckbreaker to keep the action going. It was the Miz who would be victorious however, as a distraction involving Ryder’s father and Maryse would see the Miz roll Ryder up for a quick win and be crowned the new Intercontinental champ. Aaawww, poor Zack Ryder.

The Dudleys defeat The Usos

RAW April 4 (9)

The Dudley boys take early control of the match, hitting the Usos with beatdowns, Wassups and diving headbutts. Tables soon made an appearance, as the Dudleys set some up in the ring and managed to avoid the Uso onslaught to have the tag team crash an burn through all that assembled lumber. D-Von would get the win for the night, throw Jey Uso through a table set up in the corner. Classic Dudley action.

Promos aplenty

Sami Zayn’s promo is interrupted by Kevin Owens who powerbombs him through a table, Dr Phil is announced as a guest star on next week’s RAW and Zack Ryder will get a rematch next week. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady challenge the Dudleys, but Bubba Ray and D-Von have had enough for one night and proceed to flip the two off rather than enter the ring again.

AJ Styles defeats Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho and Cesaro

RAW April 4 (1)

With Zayn out of action, it’s the returning Cesaro who fills his spot. It’s a fantastic match, that had springboard dropkicks, suplexes aplenty and dropkicks everywhere as the bout went inside and outside of the ring. Eventually, everyone would run into finishers but it was AJ Styles who would nail the Styles Clash on Jericho for the three-count and end RAW as the new Number One contender. What an excellent show, coming right out of an excellent Wrestlemania.

  1. The crowd really does not react well to Roman lol. I think he should perhaps go a bit more into his “I beat his ass” mentality. The added personality might be what he is missing. That, and wraslin skills – too much fighting not enough grappling. I still like him though 😛

The crowd does not dislike Roman, those boo’s are the same as the “you suck” chants in Angles theme song.

Holy Christ ! Wrestling again ? I often wonder if this is a serious thing or is it tongue in cheek ? Why on earth would anyone over the age of 8 be interested in this ? Come on. There are many choices in life if you enjoy following sports. Rugby ( We did win two World Cups ) Golf ( Our golfers have won a combined 25 majors ) Cricket ( I’ll give you that one ) F1 ( Jodie Sheckter and Schumi…………even though he is a German ) Olympic Swimming ( Chad and Cameron in recent times plus Penny Heyns who is a legend, Also those four guys that won the Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay ). Sooo many choices and I listed only a few 🙂
