Smackdown Live APril 09

Smackdown LIVE took place from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Here’s all the action that went down in the aftermath of Wrestlemania.

The Bar and Drew McIntyre crashed Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship celebration

Looks like Kofi Kingston just can’t seem to get a moment to celebrate his WWE championship win, as the interruption from Monday Night RAW carried through to Tuesday Night Smackdown LIVE. The Bar wanted Kingston to show some appreciation for the interference in the RAW main event, as they challenged the New Day to a Six Man Tag Team Match.

The Bar’s third man? None other than RAW’s Drew McIntyre.

Ali, Ricochet and Aleister Black def. Andrade, Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev

Braun Strowman appeared on SmackDown LIVE and mixed it up with Samoa Joe

Feeling pretty stoked after he choked out Rey Mysterio in a minute-long match, Samoa Joe’s victory may have gone to his head. Trapping R-Truth in the Coquina Clutch, Samoa Joe claimed that he could do the same to anyone else in the WWE Universe. Cue the arrival of Braun Strowman, as the Gift of Destruction decided to put Joe’s claim to the test and quickly demolished the United States Champion.

The IIconics def. The Brooklyn Belles to retain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

I kept reading that as Brooklyn Bellies and now I’m disappointed.

Shane McMahon addressed the WWE Universe

Having defeated The Miz at Wrestlemania (barely), Shane McMahon had more pressing matters to address. Such as ring announcer Greg Hamilton not introducing him properly to the audience, as Shane forced the announcer to redo the intro again and again before he was finally satisfied.

The Hardy Boyz def. The Usos to win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles before being wrecked by Lars Sullivan

In a twist of fate and a Swanton Bomb, The Hardy Boyz managed to reclaim tag team gold from The Usos mere days after they’d successfully defended their titles at Wrestlemania. That victory was short-lived, as NXT’s Lars Sullivan decided to make another statement, utterly demolishing the newly-minted champs.

Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans got into it again on SmackDown LIVE

No matter where she goes, it looks like Becky Lynch is going to have to deal with Lacey Evans as the undisputed Woman’s champion of the WWE found herself on the receiving end of another haymaker from the catwalk combatant.

The New Day def. Drew McIntyre and The Bar

An organised unit, plenty of momentum in their tank and ready to prove that they were still the best: The Bar and Drew McIntyre never stood a chance as Kofi Kingston landed Trouble in Paradise on Sheamus to close out Smackdown LIVE.
