Just yesterday, we got our first glimpse behind the curtain of Tomorrowland, director Brad Bird and writer Damon Lindelof sci-fi wonderland, and last night, in a surprise move at New York Comic Con, that curtain got ripped down. Well, like halfway down. And more gently parted than ripped. After all, this is a Damon Lindelof venture we’re talking about here, so you know that there’s no way everything is about to get shown in the very first trailer.
What we do get in the trailer though, is to meet our two protagonists in Brit Robertson’s Casey and George Clooney’s ex-boy genius Frank. Oh and also a magical little pin that is way more than it seems.
Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (George Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world–and them–forever.
Yes, it’s more teaser than trailer, but I’ll be damned if that didn’t get both my inner and outer geek all excited. Yes, George Clooney, you’re damn skippy I want to go!
Tomorrowland also stars Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy, Thomas Robinson and Kathryn Hahn. It’s scheduled for release on May 22, 2015.
