Remember Allison Road? It was an indie game from Lilith Ltd that looked to fill the void left by the unfortunate cancellation of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s Silent Hills. Taking its cues from the Playable Teaser that announced Silent Hills to the World, Allison Road looked to blend that sort of creepy gross-out scarefest with the subtle storytelling of Gone Home.
Here’s what the game is all about.
“The player will encounter Lily, who is pivotal to the story and who, at the same time, is not what she might seem to many people out there right now. While Lily does present a mortal threat to you, there are other forces way beyond your comprehension at work; and while the clock is ticking against you, you will have to find a way to escape this deadly peril while your fate and Lily’s fate are inevitably linked.”
It’s had an odd development path. Originally set to be a Kickstarter project, the game was picked up to be published by Worms Maker Team 17.
When that deal was first announced, here’s what the team had to say:
“We are delighted to announce that we will be joining Team17’s highly successful games label. For us it’s an incredible opportunity to be part of a label that looks after not only such a massive gaming franchise, but also supports developers like Playtonic, Mouldy Toof and many others. Working with Team17 will give us the chance to make our game unhindered creatively, but at the same time will give us the resources, support and experience that only a 25 year old studio can give,” they said then.
And now? Well, now it’s been rather unceremoniously cancelled. According to a tweet from the official account, Allison Road has been binned. There’s no real information on the whys or the hows, but that information, they say, is coming.
Hi all. Sadly Allison Road had to be cancelled. Statement to come in the next few days. Thx for all your support and very sad it came 2 this

I suppose we’ll find out more in the coming weeks.
That’s one less game for Matty to review.

Yeah, it’s fun watching him squirm and near soil himself, but it’s much more fun for me to sit in a dark room while trying to keep from soiling MYself while playing an awesome horror game. So few come out for console these days. And most are action games with slight horror elements.

I think the reason for the few amount of horror games being released is due to the past cancellation and mediocre sales of other horror games.

A sad truth… Especially with amazing titles like The Evil Within out there.
