Alan Wake is one of those odd titles that got everyone excited early on for no real reason. It looks pretty and it’s going to have realistic weather effects but apart from that we don’t know anything about it.

I think the fact that it is a 360 exclusive has also contributed to the Internet hype around the game but in reality it reminds me a little of Splinter Cell Conviction… lots of hype but very little substance yet.

Well 2009 is hopefully going to change that for both of these titles. It has finally been announced that Alan Wake will land sometime in 2009 and the best guess at the moment is around September this year, so it’s still quite a long time away.

We posted the rumours previously stating that Splinter Cell Conviction may be released in February this year but don’t believe it, rather we are anticipating a July release for that one.

Which leads us onto the biggest question of the year, are we really going to see Duke Nukem Forever this year? You know what.. I think we will…, In November and it’s going to be awesome.

Really can’t wait to get my hands on Alan Wake, hope it doesn’t turn into another AITD but then again it’s the guys that did Max Payne so I think we are in safe hands. As far as Duke Nukem goes, even if it is released this year it won’t be as great as we all imagine it would be after 10 years in production.Ah well. . .

I think most of the hype was caused by :

    1) It being a new Remedy game
    2) Back in 2005 when it was first announced and teased, the screenshots shown were mind-blowing. Graphics on all fronts have improved since then, so it’s lost a bit of the wow-factor.
