ESL returns to Madison Square Garden this weekend for their New York Major. Once again one of the biggest eSports in the world will return to the venue which has hosted some of the most famous events in our modern history.
The New York Major arrives just in time as Valve have locked down roster changes ahead of their flagship Major series beginning in a few months. ESL New York will feature some of the world’s best teams including Evil Genuises (winners of TI5) and runner-ups CDEC Gaming. Clear your schedule: starting this weekend the action kicks off, and this is all you need to know.
The action kicks off on October 3rd with an interesting match between Fnatic and Team Secret. Both Team Secret and Fnatic went though interesting roster changes amidst their poor performance at TI5. The last time these two teams faced off was during ESL One Frankfurt where Team Secret came out on top, but since then Team Secret lost Kuroky, and Fnatic went through a complete change with a new international lineup lead by Dominik ‘Black^’ Reirmeier.
This will be an explosive kick-start to the tournament as Fnatic have become something of a spectacle to watch after their performance during the qualifier. ESL New York will also see the reemergence of CDEC Gaming who have been on hiatus since their loss at the TI5 Grand Finals. They will face off in a much-anticipated match against the North American qualified Team Fire, who beat out Cloud9 and Complexity to secure their spot.
