Arcade users denied the new Xbox 360 Dashboard

Avatars NXE

If you are one of the people who bought the original Core or Arcade then you are fresh out of luck with the New Xbox 360 Dashboard.

You see the new Dashboard requires a minimum of 256 Mb storage space to install and the original Core came with no storage space at all and the original Arcade only came with 64Mb.

This wouldn’t be such a disaster if the Xbox 360 HDD was reasonably priced but have you seen the latest prices?

We don’t know exactly how large the update is but if it’s anywhere near 256Mb then our new Arcade friends are going to be stuck with the decision of deleting all their Arcade games or updating the dashboard.

The lack of hard drive in the Arcade has always been one of Microsoft’s biggest mistakes and now it could come back to really bite them in the ass.

Isn’t this only related to avatar creation, not the dashboard.

I don’t think MS will screw over such a large part of their user base. I think we should first wait and see before jumping to conclusions.

Thats what I thought as well.
The Dashboard will still change to the new layout, while if you have the avatar thingy then you’ll need the extra space.

One thing I think Sony is doing right is putting everything into the PS3 and looking at the longer term. ONly problem, now their console is the more expensive one since they can’t release cheaper SKUs like MS.

Maybe MS is also looking at the longer term and even more profits with their over priced add-ons, release an arcade with little space to save and then some moths later release something that requires you to go out and buy an overpriced HDD.

Well, lets hope and see what happens for the sake of the guys without an HDD.
