Battlefield 3 pre-order outpacing Black Ops pre-orders

If Internet rumours are to be believed EA Games has set aside one of the biggest marketing budgets ever envisioned for gaming for Battlefield 3.

I personally know that virtually all entertainment related websites locally are going to have some sort of Battlefield 3 advertising on them in the run up to the games release and now according to retailers this massive marketing drive is taking affect.

Pre-order figures for Battlefield 3 are currently outpacing the figures recorded for Black Ops, which went on to be one of the best selling video games of all time.

Earlier estimations had Battlefield 3 selling 8 million units over all 3 platforms but after a fantastic showing at E3 these estimates have been bumped up to 11 million.

No one currently expects Battlefield to outsell Modern Warfare 3 but it’s getting closer now and I’m pretty sure there are some nervous glances over at Activision’s marketing department when they see these results. They have the money and reach to respond however and don’t be surprised if there is a sudden increase in MW3 advertising around the net.
