Beyond Good and Evil Getting a Re-release – in HD!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Yeah, I’m that damned excited! One of the most critically acclaimed, but publicly overlooked and underappreciated games from last gen, Ubisoft’s incredible Beyond Good and Evil will be getting re-released next year.

Even better is it’s not some quick, nasty cash in. The game’s going HD, with level textures, character models and even its score being updated to better suit newer hardware. No pricing or release date has been specified, but we do know that it’s hit Xbox Live Arcade and PSN some time next year. If you’ were one of the many who shunned the game at retail, this is your chance to make amends. It’s a 3rd person action adventure, with puzzle elements thrown in for good measure.

Hopefully this means Ubisoft is getting serious about the on-again, off-again sequel.

There’s a trailer for the original 2003 release after the jump, that may pique your interest.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
