Black Ops Hardened Edition so NOT for women

1 min read

And that’s not because it’s called “Hardened Edition” or because we’re being totally sexist or anything. It’s because Activision is being totally sexist, or totally stupid; take your pick. Although many would argue that those two adjectives are not mutually exclusive.

You would have thought that a game release as MASSIVE as Black Ops’ would have been orchestrated down to the finest detail. Thanks to one of our readers, FireFly, a hiccup has been highlighted. She pre-ordered the Hardened Edition for Xbox 360 so that she could get the download codes to the Avatar clothing and extra levels. She hit a snag.

Upon entering the code to redeem her Avatar kit, she was greeted with a message that looks as if it’s been wrenched straight out of the nineteen-twenties, dripping with chauvinism towards the fairer sex: “This code is only available for male Avatars”.

Talk about an oversight; I would have thought the biggest game’s publisher in the world would have dozens of people watching out for stupid slip-ups like these. All is not lost though! Activision, realising that hell hath no fury as a female gamer denied of her DLC, has mobilised to quell the building rage by providing free Avatar items for female Avatars.

In order to redeem the SR 71 Flight Suit (sounds fancy!) enter this code: GYVF8-PF7RY-28D7V-VGWV8-CFGRM. In addition, you can enter R76BQ-CR3MF-G2TTF-9G36R-BQWJD to get the Woods Avatar outfit. Note that these are just for female Avatars – sorry guys. I’ve just tested the codes using my fiancé’s account, and I can confirm that they work – and we don’t even have Black Ops! Hooray for Freebies!

Thanks FireFly!

  1. Bwahaha, you can’t even download it if you have a Male avatar.

This code cannot be redeemed because the item will only fit a female avatar. Your avatar is male. You may want to share this code with a friend who has a female avatar.

YES, I’m a sucker for free stuff. So what 😛

Yeah, I am just glad that Activision realised that there are female gamers out there that enjoy COD games. I’m pretty happy with my free stuff now 🙂

Just a word of warning, buddy says the codes does not work for migrated South African accounts. I haven’t checked it out on my tester account.

Yeah, they probably don’t – on account of that content not being on the ZA marketplace yet.

I hope this isn’t a double post, but what I posted a little while ago. I don’t know if I should be blaming my RSS reader, IE that it uses, or what… so here we are back in Firefox:

If it means anything, the codes worked fine in my US XBL account. I always thought the codes were one use only, but since it’s not, I’ll be giving them to some friends. Thanks! (And I don’t even have Black Ops…)

I was pissed. It further insulted me by telling me to go give it to someone that had a male avatar.

Agreed! I was disappoint. But I knew if I waited long enough all the cries of us female CODers would be heard lol
