Bourne PS3 Install

Another game another huge and idiotic install required…

It has been discovered that The Bourne Conspiracy for the PS3 required at least 5GB of Hard drive space to play the game, now I know that a lot of people don’t mind this but in my mind it is ridiculous..

The 20GB machines are still being sold in Japan which means those guys can only have a 3 game rotation before having to remove the install data and playing another game.. I rarely have less than 5 games in my rotation and normally have around 8 so these installs would be a serious problem…

And then people wonder why Konami refused to let reviewers mention the install…

Perfect axample of how somethis so trivial can be blow so out of proportion, It doesnt affect the gaming experiance imho.

As if wether a game installs or not will seriously effect a persons decision or enjoyment of a game they want to get.

It doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of the game, it detracts from the convienience of the console. With the budget console you can only have x installs and hard drive management should not be the first thing on your mind when you get a brand new game.

However, what all these hyped installs fail to mention is that is most cases the install is not mandatory. So you have longer load times but you can just put in the disk and play.

Its still a small issue tho, It bothers you or it doenst.

I refuse to pay to play online, its also a inconvieniece. You see no one bitchen in reviews etc that a you need pay extra for online compared to the ps3?

    Its a non-issue imo

What convienience? It’s not like you have to get out the advanced numerical simulation software and clusters PCs to help you do a install. It all happens with the simple push of a button.

Seriously, I can understand where the issues comes from with installs wrt running out of space. But my god we know that they are going to be with us now, and in the next generation of consoles most probably. I fail to understand how this can make headline news time and time again. WE KNOW!

Also, if people are to lazy / stupid to spend a couple of minutes before you play a new game to manange you HDD space, maybe I should get a new hobby? Because seriously, these installs have never “inconvienienced” or “confused” me at all!

Why is every dev jumping on the install bandwagon? I wonder how the game will perform without an install 😕

Imagine the feeling when you have to wait 20 mins to play a game that you have to play for 4 years 😯

if all Xbox’s came with a harddrive or something bigger than a 20Gig drive, trust me there would be installs.

Personally, it doesnt bother me in the slightest. If you can afford a PS3, you certainly can afford a bigger HDD. But it was never too much of a hassle for me the few times i attempted pc gaming either. Normally it will show some cool artwork, story introductions etc while the install is going, so unless you have the attention span of a goldfish, i seriously dont know what the big hoo-ha is over all this. This wont be the last time either, so expect more “breaking news” when the next game is released that requires an install.

I still don’t get it. The 360 boys are clutching at straws here. Seriously, installing the game is a non issue. Running out of HD space, meh delete some stuff I don’t need. OMG I have to wait an extra 10 minutes before I can play the game I’ve been waiting for 4 years for. OH THE HUGE MANATEE. Seriously Fox1, I’m gonna suggest sunlight. Just throwing it out there.

Using installs is just another way of covering a flaw in the PS3.

I would like to see the look on you guys face when there’s hard drive failure

Yes, a hard drive failure would be a little bit annoying. But then atleast I’ll still have all the games to re-install and be able to download any PSN store games again at no charge whilst being able to play them when offline too. It’s a non-issue.

My problem is that I may still need that data…. Personally I am happy slapping in a bigger hard drive but I am pretty sure my parents don’t want to..

My dad’s machine has about 6 games currently active… if he had a 20Gb PS3 he would be in trouble now.. that is the only point I am trying to make

I’m a Pc boytjie, so installs are part of my everyday life.
They don’t bother me at all. I just think that it kinda defeats the whole purpose of a console tho. You’re suppose to be able to pop in a game and play. Not have to worry about stuff like HDD space. It just seems like someone got away with it and now it’s a get-outa-jail-free card when they realise that the Blue Ray player doesn’t read as well as they thought. Not that it’s gonna make a difference. In the end, a gamer is a gamer. We’ll sit through all kinds of crap to get our fix 😈

I really don’t think the installs are that big a deal, provided the install data and game save data are separate, and you can delete the one without hte other.

What’s the problem? My game will not install! I’ve taken the game back and exchanged it for another and it still won’t fully install. What is the problem?
