Indie games let us embrace our deepest darkest desires. Those dreams that aren’t mainstream, those ideas that might not be shared universally can be represented in the independent games. That’s why this week we’re looking at games that let you speed run like a boss. Even better, you can get those damn neighbors off your lawn, with bears.
First up, Action Henk will release 11th May. What is it? Um, I think it’s like Sonic on meth.
Run, jump and butt-slide into the glorious toy-filled world of Action Henk! Become a master of momentum and defy physics as you race against a band of ragged 90s action figures to once and for all prove that Action Henk is the fastest of them all! Dash across dangerous tracks and tricky constructions, earn those medals, beat those challenges, and leave your friends behind in a blaze of butt-sliding glory.
But I know you’re all here for the bears. This has to be one of the best game descriptions I’ve read in a while.
The only way to stop a loud nextdoor party is by luring a bear into it. Party Hard is a game about stopping the loud party next door at all costs.
But wait, there’s a video and it’s fantastic. Also, you can play the prototype over here.
For those looking for a new roguelike filled with swords, chainsaws, machine guns and pogo sticks, there’s Weaponographist. Available from the 29th of April, it will let players play with demon gore and tons of weapons. Winning!
Finally, a cool survey has been done by Make Games SA about the state of the industry. I’ll be giving you a breakdown of their findings, but here it is in full for those who just can’t wait.
