Did you watch the intriguing teaser reveal for Mega Man Universe, the XBLA and PSN bound return of the blue bomber? Did it have you slightly confused, wondering just what sort of game Universe would be?
You’re not alone! As an ardent fan of series, it left me excited, intrigued, somewhat bewildered, and plenty confused. Yesterday at comic-con, Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune and producer Akiko Ito explained what the game would be about. Only they’ve left me even more confused.
The concept, Inafune said, "came from the idea of what Mega Man is and what it means to [different people]." “Whether you started playing the series when Mega Man 2 was released or whether you start with the Mega Man X series,†Inafune says "Everyone has a unique idea of what Mega Man is."
Many versions of the titular hero will be featured in the game, apparently, including that "crappy version of Mega Man from the original cartridge," as seen right at the end of the trailer. Inafune hopes that the ability to play as different characters – like Ryu from street fighter and Ghosts and Goblins’ Arthur – external to the Mega Man series will "unite Mega Man fans from around the planet to play together in one place."
What the? Is this going to be LittleBigMegaMan?
