Cape Town CoD regionals results

2 min read

It is time to report the results of the Cape Town Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 regional tournament!

As previously reported, this was a first for Cape Town.  Plus, it was designed to get console gamers more aware of Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) and the opportunities for eSports in South Africa.  The event was run according to the Swiss tournament system; each team played four matches which meant that there was no knock out but rather, each match counted towards the placings.  Two points were awarded for a win, zero for a loss.

It was a dramatic day, filled with comebacks and defeats.  The stakes were high – not only were there prizes to be won, the winner would also go on to play against the Gauteng provincial team in a North vs. South match (scheduled for 28 June).  In the end, team XtaZ was triumphant, winning all four matches and topping the table with eight points.  You can see the full results below, via the lovely chaps from Zombiegamer.

It is wonderful that this event was such a success, and we are excited to see how the north vs. south match goes!  Congratulations to team XtaZ – well played!
