I NEED MORE POWER! For you, the day that I began spouting off yet again about my favourite and obviously the best Devil May Cry game in the entire franchise was a momentous and significant event. But for me, it was merely…Tuesday.

There’s a reason why I love Devil May Cry 4. And it’s not just because of the tight action, my heavily-skewed nostalgia due to this being my first Xbox 360 game or the fact that the story has enough cheese to give you a lifetime supply of cholesterol. Primarily, it’s because Devil May Cry 4 is two games in one to me.

For one half of the journey, you’re playing as new demon slayer Nero, before the game puts you back in the cocky boots of franchise hero Dante and gives you a whole new set of toys to play with. And that’s something that I genuinely appreciated in not just Devil May Cry 4, but any of the games in the series that mixed gameplay up in such a way. Dante and Nero won’t be the only playable characters in the special edition of the game however, as the latest batch of screens show off Lady, Trish and Vergil in action as well:

DMC 4 Characters

According to Polygon, the special edition of DMC4 will see more than just some tweaks and high definition visuals. Dante will have a new style available to him, called Dark Slayer. With this style, Dante can use his brother Vergil’s Yamato blade in new attack combos. A sfor Vergil, his style of play will apparently be a mix from his debut appearance in Devil May Cry 3 and Ninja Theory’s 2013 rebooted version in DmC: Devil May Cry.

Vergil has the usual combos, teleports and phantom swords, as well as a new mechanic called “Concentration”. Concentration revolves around filling up a seperate blue bar with efficient combos, exact strikes and keeping movement to a minimum. The more the bar fills up, the more damage Vergil does and filling the bar all the way up will allow Vergil to perform finisher attacks. HE HAS ENOUGH POWER!

The game is out in the USA summer on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Nice to see a real DMC game coming out soon.
@Darryn Also Dante already had the Dark Slayer style in the original release. As somebody who says they love the game; you should already know this.

You’re 100% right. And to my eternal shame, I don’t think I ever used it in the original DMC4, hence my overlooking it. I FEEL BAD!
