A lot of hype and flaming has been going around the internet because of the differences between the PS4 and Xbox One. Lately, the biggest discussion has been about whether the differences in RAM meaning that the PS4 will have an advantage over the Xbox One. DICE, however, says the debate is meaningless – PCs are king.
In an interview with GameInformer, DICE’s Karl Magnus was asked if it’s an advantage for PS4 to have 8GB GDDR5 RAM compared to 5GB DDR3 in the Xbox One in the gaming partition. He replied:
“More memory or more CPU or GPU power – whatever kind of power we get out of a machine – more is always better, especially for the kind of games that we build.
“We have a long heritage of PC, and PC is a platform that has been scaled very well over the years. Naturally we’re very excited now seeing consoles that actually close in on what the PCs of today can do – even though it won’t take long before the PCs can do even more.”
You hear that, console fans? The next-gen consoles will come closer to PCs of today, which will then improve again and surpass consoles. Time to accept the master race… except at least console gamers always know that their machine will be able to run the games they buy. No need to check specs and upgrade all the time.
Now, if only everyone would just accept that Macs are better than PCs, we could finally settle this whole argument. [Ed’s note: HIPSTER!]
