A matter of hours ago, the 17th annual 2014 D.I.C.E awards ended, the Game Of The Year award being awarded to none other than The Last Of Us.

Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed game was nominated for 13 awards, taking home 10 of them. Rockstar founders Dan & Sam Houser and President Leslie Benzies were inducted into the hall of fame, rightly so.  The pioneer award was given to Eugene Jarvis, who was the pioneer of arcade games like Defender and Smash TV, and inspired many other arcade titles.

The entire event was streamed on Twitch and was plagued with audio and scripting problems. Hosts Freddie Wong and the insufferable Felicia Day were impetus to not watch, but it’s totally worth watching just to see Freddie Wong burn the hell out of  Randy Pitchford, which for me was the highlight. Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons won downloadable game of the year, which was very well deserved. The list of categories and their winners (in bold) can be seen below:
