Rise of the Tomb Raider has been a PC and Xbox One exclusive for what feels like a very long time now, but that’s all going to change pretty soon. PlayStation 4 owners will finally be able to play Lara’s latest adventure in just a few short months, on October 11th.

The 20th anniversary edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider will include the core game, all its existing DLC, an additional story chapter, and even a new co-op endurance mode. The PlayStation 4 version also contains VR support – something that the Xbox One and PC versions of that special edition will not.

On top of this, it looks like owners of Sony’s current console have something else to look forward to – a free copy of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. It’s getting thrown in as a bonus to all those who pre-order Rise of the Tomb Raider (via VideoGamer).

If you’ve already own Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, this incentive will obviously mean very little to you. However, for those who maybe played Tomb Raider on the PS3, and want it on PS4 too, or those who’ve not yet dabbled with the excellent reboot of Lara Croft at all, this really is the perfect deal. At a cost of R829, I’d highly recommend you pick it up if you fall into any of those categories.

Otherwise, if you only have eyes for Rise of the Tomb Raider, you’re in for a treat regardless. Here’s what Alessandro said about the game in his review:

Crystal Dynamics have effortlessly done the impossible with Rise of the Tomb Raider, crafting a sequel that is superior to their reboot in every single way possible. It’s a bigger, more expansive experience that has a captivating narrative, engrossing gameplay loops and an absolutely stunning presentation. Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of the best action games ever crafted, and a generational leap forward as the series looks towards the horizon. Lara Croft is in good hands.

I still need to play the damn game myself. I absolutely loved Tomb Raider, and why I’ve waited so long to play the sequel is beyond me! I suppose I might as well wait it out for the 20th anniversary edition.

What about you? Are you looking forward to getting Rise of the Tomb Raider on the PS4? Does the above incentive of the original game for free entice you to pre-order immediately?

Think the best way is to pirate it now and buy the game end of next year.

It’s a third-party port. I would wait for the bugs to be ironed out before making a purchase.
