EA Games Announces Celebrity Sports Showdown

Keith Urban

I’ve mentioned a few times this year that I am really excited about the way that EA is heading with their new IP’s and the greater emphasis being placed on hardcore gamers..

However that is not to say that they are leaving the more casual gamers behind. EA recently announced the formation of EA Freestyle which is a new brand that is going to include more family friendly, casual sporting titles like Facebreaker and the newly announced Celebrity Sports Showdown… You don’t get any more casual and off the wall than this.

Apparently the idea is that we will  be able to use our favourite celebrities (Keith Urban, Avril Lavigne etc) as avatars in a variety of sporting games from ranging from skiing to volleyball to inner tubing.

Obviously a game like this is coming to the Wii and while I have no idea if it will be good or not I can say that I am bored of Wii Sports and the family isn’t so anything that can replace that is a big plus in my books…

Lets see how this turns out… The full list of games and celebs is below

Celebrities featured listed below:
Avril Lavigne, Fergie, Leanne Rimes, Keith Urban, Nelly Furtado, Paul Pierce, Mia Hamm, Kristi Yamaguchi, Reggie Bush (what about George?) and Sugar Ray Leonard

Games featured listed below:
Beach Volleyball, Inner-Tubing, Wild Water Canoeing, Hurdle Derby, Slalom Showdown, Cliff Hangers, Smash Badminton, Rapid Fire Archery, Joust Duel, Curling, Arena Dodgeball and Air Races
