Eternal Conflict is coming to Heroes of the Storm

ETERNAL

When I mention eternal conflict, I am not talking about the ongoing fight Alessandro and myself have with regards to which Portuguese place makes the best prego roll. No, I am referring instead to the never-ending battle between Heaven and Hell that is explored in Blizzard’s franchise, Diablo. That very battle will be spilling over into Heroes of the Storm via a content patch later this month which includes a new battleground as well as additional heroes.

New Battleground

The Heroes of the Storm community have known about this map for many, many months. It’s called Battlefield of Eternity, and it looks like we will finally get to play on it when all this new content drops at the end of the month. Here’s a sneak preview (via Heroes Nexus):

New Heroes

Last week saw the release of Johanna, the crusader. She will be joined by one of her worst enemies – The Butcher. Here’s what he can do:

Fresh Meat (Passive)

Nearby minions drop 1 and heroes drop 3 fresh meat when they die, which you can pick up to gain 1% bonus attack damage. Can hold up to 25 meat. All meat is lost on dying.

Hamstring (Q)

Slams your axe down into the ground, dealing 40 damage and slowing units by 50%. This slow fades away over 2 seconds.

Butcher’s Brand (W)

Deal 32 damage to an enemy and cause your basic attacks against them to heal you for 75% of the damage done for 5 seconds. Healing doubled versus heroes.

Ruthless Onslaught (E)

Charge at an enemy, becoming unstoppable and gaining movement speed. If you reach the target, they are stunned for 1 second and take 110 damage.

Furnace Blast (R)

After a 3 second delay, fire explodes around you dealing 685 damage to enemies. Can be cast while using Ruthless Onslaught.

Lamb for the Slaughter (R)

Throw a hitching post that attaches to the nearest enemy hero after a 1 second delay. This deals 75 damage and causes the enemy to be chained to the post for 4 seconds.

The Butcher is not the only new hero coming to the Nexus. Take a look at this teaser image from Blizzard (via Destructoid):

OMG SPOILERS

Notice anything among all the familiar faces (who all happen to be in alternate skins)? That’s right, there’s Leoric, the infamous Skeleton King sitting bottom right. There’s also another Diablo character facing the Butcher. I’ve scanned my brain several dozen times, and for the life of me, I cannot remember who he/she/it is. Do you perhaps know? We’ll hopefully learn more about these characters and what they can do soon.

The Eternal Conflict patch will be hitting PTR on June the 23rd. Assuming there are no obvious problems, it should be officially released a week later. Are you excited for it? Have you even tried Heroes of the Storm since it got released?

  1. I bet Tychus smokes a cigar, depending on which side of the map he spawns.

It is thought to be an Angelic skin for Diablo NOT a new character.

Character top right is Tyrael in his Demonic skin (which looks to be getting some visual updates), so making an Angelic Diablo works

The guy in front of the Butcher, is it not Malthael (Reaper of Souls)?

True. Also can’t see his two scythes, but his hands are exactly the same! I’m hoping it is Mr Reaper

Left (heaven) top to bottom: Master Tassadar, Angelic Diablo (new skin), Master Tyrande, Centurion Johanna, Grunt Murky.
Right (hell) top to bottom: Demonic Tyreal (getting visual update), Brightwing, Butcher (new hero), Amazon Nova (new skin), King Leoric (new hero)
