Even voice-acting for videogames causes violence…

…is how the always delightful, seldom factual Fox News will likely treat this story. The 69-year old British actor Billy Murray, known (by voice at least) to a generation of gamers as Modern Warfare’s ultra-heroic Captain Price has been arrested, apparently for assaulting his wife and daughter.

There’s no real information on what exactly had happened, but apparently the East Enders star was questioned by detectives after lashing out at his wife Elaine, and their daughter Lizzie. "We can confirm a 69-year-old man from London was arrested in Chigwell in the early hours of April 7 on suspicion of assault,” said police, following with “He was later charged with two counts of assault and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on May 6."

It’s quite obvious that merely being tenuously associated with a video game has caused an imbalance in his brain – probably from just seeing the infamous No Russian level – causing him to become a violent sociopath. Whatever the cause, there’s really no excuse for hitting out at a woman, let alone two of them – one being your own progeny. Poor form, Billy. Poor form.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
