F1 coming to the 360?

There is one question that I get asked often by my petrol head friends and that is “Why isn’t there a F1 game on the 360?”

Well the reason was that Sony has had the exclusive licence since 2003, however there have been rumblings that Sony are going to lose this licence and we could well expect a F1 game on the 360 in the near future.

Now it looks even more like, EA Sports has recently given Lewis Hamilton (F1 superstar) 5 million pounds to front a game next year. The game has not been announced but I don’t think you need to be a rocket scientist to think know it’s going to be a racing game.

Would EA Sports develop a F1 like racing game if they didn’t have the official licence? I doubt it, not with the litigation circus that follows F1 all over the place..

So I am guessing here that we are going to hear an announcement soon about Sony losing the F1 licence and EA Sports getting it…. bets anyone?

well the leading skate game was tony hawk… yet without a licence EA made “Skate” . Ea is powerfull enought to bring out a game without a licence… personaly I think all official F1 games are crap, but people say the same about my beloved “sandbox games so it comes down to preference.
I would not mind sony loosing aonother licence but stil say Ea can pull it off even without one

@Redzombie, You may be right and EA are not scared, however I would be suprised if Hamilton went up against Ecclestone (?) anytime soon

Well… there was this other company making a soccer game without a FIFA licence, so all the uniforms were the right colours, but didn’t have the details that the official game had and player names were changed to sound almost like the actual player names… And it’s generally accepted as being the better game, PROfessionally EVOlved from FIFA one would say 🙂

This is EA. Has brand? Must have…

That and considering Peter Moore is now in charge of EA sport (He’s English so I assume he’s a big F1 nut 😉 ) I’m sure he wants it.

I’m sure the FIA would also want to reap the benefits of a larger potential market considering Sony is the minority platform at the moment. With EA it’d be win win.
