I’ll be pretty blunt. I hated the hell out of GTA IV. While Niko Bellic may have been a loveable rogue, his fat annoying cousin was, well…fat and annoying; and the tone of the game and the pursuit for realism (at the time!) regularly made me sick to my stomach. I just didn’t find the game fun. And yet, here I am, caught up in the ridiculous hype that Rockstar has very carefully curated.
And yes, I’ll be getting GTA V when it launches next week Tuesday. It looks like a massive improvement, and seems to bring back the fun. Plus, I’m really intrigued by the character switching mechanic between the three protagonists.
Plus, it really seems like a technical marvel, eking out the very last drops of performance out of the current consoles, which probably excites me more than the actual game.
Am I just being suckered by the hype or should I genuinely be this excited? Are you buying GTA V? If not, tell us why (unless you’re a Pc gamer. We already know why).
