Whether or not you agree, Final Fantasy VII is often lauded as the best Final Fantasy game of the franchise.  For those who never played it, or those who want to play it again but this time on PC, you can get it now on Steam!

The classic game has been revamped and optimized for PC and has the following new features:

  • Achievements – Whether you’re a seasoned FINAL FANTASY VII veteran or exploring this RPG classic for the very first time, show off your in-game accomplishments and put your gaming skills to the test with 36 brand new achievements to unlock. Share your profile with friends online to find out who is the ultimate FINAL FANTASY fan.’
  • Cloud Saves (not referring to the character) – If you’re away from home or simply using a different computer to play, enjoy FINAL FANTASY VII wherever you are. With cloud save support in FINAL FANTASY VII you can continue your game progress right where you left off (Requires Internet Connection. Saves can only be transferred between a maximum of 3 computers at any one time).
  • Character Booster – Find yourself stuck on a difficult section or lacking the funds to buy that vital Phoenix Down? With the Character Booster you can increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum, all with the simple click of a button, leaving you to enjoy your adventure.

I actually might need to get myself a copy.  I loved this game back in the day, but I haven’t given it a replay in many years.  Reigniting my nostalgia has to be worth $11.99.  Too bad the Steam version is only for PC – no Mac version yet. Oh, and apparently you need to register the game again a Square Enix account, so for those of you who don’t have one yet – time to make yet another account.

Was this your favorite Final Fantasy?  Which one defined the franchise for you?
